Skills

  1. Herre van der Zant has a strong background in nanoelectronics, nanomechanics with 2D materials and single-molecule conductance measurements. For example, in his laboratory several techniques have been developed for making electrodes on the nanoscale and contacting molecules, nanoparticles and 2D materials in between them. Specifically, three-terminal nanojunctions and FET devices have been fabricated and studied with an emphasis on the interplay between quantum transport and their mechanical/magnetic/optical properties.
