USC is a public university established in 1495. USC hosts ~28,000 students, among which ~3,000 are PhD students. USC has been recognized as International Campus of Excellence, a Spanish strategic program specialized in life sciences and technologies. CiQUS (Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials) develops transdisciplinary strategies to undertake major challenges in Molecular Sciences. CiQUS hosts 33 Principal Investigators, selected by an external scientific advisory board; 39 post-doctoral fellows, 73 PhD students, 25 Master students, 11 technicians and 4 people in administration and R&D management and knowledge transfer. In 2016, CiQUS obtained the best evaluation in the accreditation of Excellence University Research Centres from the Galician Government. CiQUS’ research activity is focused on three major areas: Functional Materials; Biological and Medicinal Chemistry; Synthetic Technologies.
